Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis. Supermarket collection volunteers.
In order to maintain our stocks of food we hold collections throughout the year at supermarkets, if you would like to volunteer but can’t commit to a regular time or day this may be the role for you. We generally volunteer for 2 hours at a time handing out shopping lists to shoppers and accepting their donations. Days and sites vary .
Network Rail Money collectors
We also need funds to keep the van filled with diesel , pay overheads etc , Network Rail currently offer us a regular slot at Leeds Railway Station collecting money. We start at 7am and finish after the evening rush hour so if you just have an hour or so on your way to work or during the day and are happy holding a collection bucket please contact us for more information
Our trustees are currently looking for a volunteer to take on the role of minutes secretary at their meetings. The meetings currently take place on evenings between 7 pm and 9.30 pm on alternate months in Leeds 17.
