Join us on Saturday 14th September 2019 as we take on the Yorkshire three peaks and raise vital funds to tackle food poverty with the local Leeds North & West Foodbank.
The challenge is a 24 mile walk over the three largest peaks in the Yorkshire (Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough) taking in the breath-taking views of The Yorkshire Dales and The Ribblehead Viaduct.
Sign up by buying a ticket to walk with us. The ticket price includes a professional mountain guide to guide us through the day and a support vehicle which will meet us with light refreshments, so you dont need to carry your supplies with you. They’ll have a stash of jelly babies to keep us all going!
Once signed up you’re free to raise your own sponsorship, either using a traditional form or by creating a Give as You Live page and selecting Leeds North and West Foodbank as your chosen charity (https://donate.giveasyoulive.com/create) – we ask all participants to target a minimum fundraise of £50.
The funds raised will support Leeds North and West Foodbank (“Leeds NWFB”), a network of 9 foodbanks in the Leeds area which provide much needed support to families in crisis in the fight to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
People can find themselves in a food crisis for many reasons: losing their job, a relationship breakdown or a death in the family can all lead to situations where a family can struggle to put food on the table.
Leeds NWFB is a member of the Trussell Trust, a national network of over 428 foodbanks, working to tackle hunger and poverty in our local communities and across the UK. In 2018/19, The Foodbank Network provided 1,583,668 three-day emergency food supplies and support to UK people in crisis. Of these, 577,618 went to children.
